7.30 am Tori, Wayne, Dean and I met in front of North Bondi Surf Lifesaving Club. On that day we decided to swim for approximately two hours. The conditions were gorgeous, however the air temperature was only at 8C. That did not mean alot as in 10min we were all ready to dip into the ocean. Tori and Wayne were swimming without a wet suit; building up their cold water body adaptation for the English Channel. Dean and I easily started our swim with wet suit buoyancy. The water temperature was really good for the first few laps. 4 laps later Dean and Wayne decided to wrap up their Saturday swim a little early. They couldn’t wait to have a nice breakfast in the local cafe.
Tori and I kept swimming until we reached 10 laps. Tori wanted to join a later swim session from 10.30. So, after 10 laps she had a 15min rest and then continued with another group of swimmers for 1hour. I stayed in the water by myself; thinking of doing another 4 laps, but during the swim I changed my mind and completed another 6 laps. Finishing up completing 16 laps of Bondi Bay – I was tired, but satisfied and happy that I did more than I had planned.
Thank you team and I look forward to yet another Saturday morning swim.
