Swimming travel adventures bring new swims challenge for our Vladswim swimmers. A few years ago, Tori competed in the 4 lakes swim in the USA and her fantastic description of the experience inspired other swimmers to give it a go. The event – called SCAR and run by Kevin Nicholas- is composed of 4 swims in four different lakes in Arizona, providing wonderful natural locations. The distances of the fresh water lake swims range from 10km to 27.3km.
All 4 lakes are connected by the Salt River; however, you swim each lake separately and you travel the distance between them and stay in accommodation overnight night. This makes the event interesting and highly challenging. Swimmers have to be well prepared for it so it could be great way to prepare for the English Channel.
This year, Anna Doubell travelled to Arizona to be part of the SCAR swim, skipping our cold water swim camp as a result. Because of the distances and water temperature, this event gave her enough swimming for her English Channel swim 2018. Her story and experience from Arizona is described on her website… https://doubs-swims.squarespace.com/journal/
Congratulations Anna on your fantastic swims.
