Last Saturday Vladswim swimmers didn’t spend time in bed or in a cafeteria with a newspaper, they did the opposite. They jumped into the ocean and swam between 2 to 4 hours in really, not friendly, weather of Sydney. The first group of Channel ‘cold’ swimmers started swimming at Balmoral beach from 7.30am
Charm (coach) was coaching the swimmers on their swim of more than 4hours in 15C water temperature. Our swimmers Alistair, Wayne, Tori, Nicola and Marty swam laps from north side Balmoral up to Chinamans Beach and back to south Balmoral. They also swam with other swimmers Stuart Johnson and Iain McGregor. Michael Fox an ocean swimmer from Maitland travelled down to keep them company and managed the full 4+ hours as well. Stuart and Iain are going to swim the English Channel this August, the others – 2012/2013. We wish them good luck on the swim.
During this swim Mother Nature sent a pod of about 10 dolphins to support the swimmers. Tori definitely felt like a mermaid by touching one of the dolphins. How great is it being an ocean swimmer.
All of them did a great job and for the Channel swimmers this swim give’s them more confidence for next weekend’s 6hour swim.
Congratulations to all swimmers.
The next little group of swimmers started swimming later on Saturday. After a morning pool session we met at 9:40 in front of North Bondi and in rough surface conditions we started swimming 10 Bondi laps.
The swimmers in this group included – Louise, Damien, Barbora and I (Vlad).
