21st of December 2013 – Vladswim organized 5km and 10km swim. We would like to thank you to all supporters and swimmers for making this event popular for distance swimmers. Report from our swimmer – Nico Davidson
- Mischee went to Lake Taupo for a couple of races on weekend of 11th-12th Jan. She came 1st in her age group and 3rd female overall in the 10km NZ open water swim championships with a time of 2:46:48. She also came 3rd in her age group and 6th female overall in the 2.5km masters race on the Sunday in a time of 37:54
- Nico did the swim leg of an Challenge (ironman distance) team event in Wanaka on 18th Jan – 3.8km in 1hr 32secs in 14.1 degree water (I wore a wetsuit). We came first out of the female teams and I was 6th fastest female, only beaten by elites and I even swam 2 mins faster than the individual female pro winner Candice Hammond , although I was 22secs off Russell Newmarch (Ali’s brother) who was part of a male Coogee tri team that came 2nd in the male team event.
- Nico also did the Wellington Harbour ocean swim on Sunday 26th Jan – it was meant to be 3.3km swim but course was shortened due to the wind so was only 2km. I didn’t wear a wetsuit and placed 3rd in my age category in 30mins 30 sec against both wetsuit and non-wetsuit wearers.
